Update 4-5-10

Dear Readers,

"He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him, whose thoughts turn often to the lord! Trust in the Lord God always, for in the Lord Jehovah is your everlasting strength" Isaiah 26:3-4 TLB

It has been rough to realize, I won't be here for three months without my family, friends and Albion's wonderful air! It has been scary thinking I will be all alone but, I was so wonderful to know that I have so many people behind me. Saturday, we (mom, dad and I) attended the annual "MFMI Banquet", what I great evening it was. While we were there, Jenny Riggs, Mackenzie and I was prayed over for our future endeavors! I have an extremely long list of supplies I need to bring to Ukraine, so I am trying to tackle that before I leave. I am starting to pack for my trip in 17 days, I am so...excited! We plan on leaving the May 1st, I believe in the morning. For the first 6 days of May I will be staying with Warren and Velma Hardig, and while they are away to Scotland I will be staying with Kent and Monica Eller! Thank you to all that have asked for this newsletter (more to come)! I would like to ask for prayer for (1) That I will get a smooth transition from home to indianapolis (2) Ukraine! My trip to Ukraine will be great, but I need all the prayer I could

Pray for Haiti

I think Haiti is still it need for prayer. I fell we must pray for the families comfort in this time of death and destruction. I will update you ASAP whenever I get update email with "OMS International". I have received one so far and, it is wonderful news it reads;

On January 13, Wednesday afternoon, shortly before 5 p.m., a 7.0 magnitude

earthquake struck the capital city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Its

epicenter was 10 miles southwest of the city in the mountains. News

reports tell of the collapse of a hospital, the Hotel Montana and the

National Palace, as well as damage to the U.N. peacekeeper compound and

the Ministry of Finance.

The main OMS ministry center in Haiti is located in Cap Haitien, located

80 miles north of Port-au-Prince. We have received news from our team in

Cap Haitien that, although shaken, our team is unharmed. Today we expect

to receive news concerning the state of our buildings.

OMS has two ministry centers in Port-au-Prince: a church belonging to the

OMS-related Fellowship of Emmaus Churches and a guest house known as “The

Villa.” The status of both is unknown at this time.

Latest news this morning:

- Brett Bundy is on his way to Port-au-Prince this morning, with Luke

Renner

(video guy) and driver Olin - they're going to check up on the OMS Villa

(located at epicentre of quake) and to see how OMS can best respond to

this disaster

- they've had no news from the Villa yet, communications impossible.

Several local staff members thought to be there. Don't know about any

visiting groups staying there, but no missionaries there at the moment.

- some reports from Cap Haitien this morning - the main bridge going from

town to the airport is cracked, not passable.

- separate from the earthquake, there's been a lot of rain in Cap, some

flooding at Petite Anse, (where the Radio 4VEH transmitters are) and

people are displaced from their homes.

Asking for your prayers, of course, for the people of Haiti; for our

staff, families and friends; pray for fellow Christian broadcasters at

Radio Lumière in Port, no news about them; pray for safety, wisdom for

Brett and leadership as decisions are made; pray that Radio 4VEH will be a

comfort to listeners who are in desperation today.

Thanks,

...Kate

My sponsor letter

I was recently accepted to participate in an Internship with OMS International this May-July. OMS International Interns are carefully evaluated before their acceptance, and I am honored to have been selected. This experience will increase my understanding of the world and give me the opportunity to learn firsthand about new places, cultures and prepare me for the life of a missionary.
The cost is $2,500.00, which includes meals, lodging, and a trip overseas. I am asking family and friends for financial sponsorship
to help me reach my goal. I plan to share my experience with friends and family when I return by presenting my journal and photographs.
Checks need to be payable to OMS International, with account #232060 in the memo. All gifts are tax-deductible. Please use the enclosed envelope for contributions.
Your generous contribution would enable me to share in this wonderful experience. Thank you in advance for your gracious consideration and support.
I am currently asking family and friends for financial sponsorship to help me with lodging, meals, trip overseas and I hope I can count on your support. If you would like to know more/sponsor me just let me know and I can get you a envelope

Sincerely yours,
